The Garrick Club was founded in 1831 by a group of literary gentlemen as a place where ‘actors and men of refinement and education might meet on equal terms’, and where ‘easy intercourse was to be promoted between artists and patrons’. Named after the great 18th-century actor David Garrick, the club possesses an important theatrical library that includes many documents, but its greatest treasure is the large and comprehensive collection of theatrical paintings and drawings.

Please note: visitors must observe smart dress code (jacket and tie for men).
