V&A Evening Talk and Concert: An Evening of Renaissance Music with His Majestys Sagbutts & Cornetts

Among the finest practitioners of their instruments in the world, early music group His Majestys Sagbutts & Cornetts have performed at Sydney Opera House, Westminster Abbey and the BBC Proms.

To celebrate the new Medieval and Renaissance Galleries, they bring heavenly period music to the V&A, a sound likened by one 1636 commentator to “a ray of sunshine piercing the shadows”.

Featuring works by Gabrieli, Victoria, Gibbons and other sixteenth and seventeenth-century composers, the group masterfully demonstrate and discuss these most vocal of instruments, haunting and majestic in equal measure.

Presented by The Art Fund in collaboration with V&A Membership.
