Ditchley Park is an 18th century house set in wooded and pastoral countryside. Designed by James Gibb, it was built in 1772. There are rich interiors by William Kent and Henry Flitcroft with later decorative schemes by Nancy Lancaster. The house was used as a weekend retreat for Churchill and his Cabinet in 1940/41. After the tour, tea and biscuits will be served and then you are free to wander around the beautiful grounds. The Italian garden, made between 1934/39, was designed by Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe who also reinstated the James Gibb Terrace.
