Called an ‘ingenious jewel’ the Lightbox, in Woking, won The Art Fund Prize for Museums and Galleries in 2008. It was designed by Mark Barfield, architect of the London Eye, and is the first destination on this trip followed in the afternoon by a visit to Loseley Park.

The magnificent Elizabethan House, built in 1560, has panelling from Henry VIII’s Nonsuch Palace, carving by Grinling Gibbons and is still in the possession of the original family. It has an extensive walled garden and beautiful park. St.Nicholas is Romanesque and is famous for its most unusual double chancel.
