Visit to Exeter Cathedral and Close and Killerton House

A walking tour of the Cathedral Close and  Bishop’s Palace Garden. Learn the history of the Cathedral and environs. Time will then be given for visiting the 13th century decorated gothic cathedral and the historic city centre. After lunch take the coach to Killerton House. Killerton was built in 1778 for the Devonshire family the Aclands. It is described as having a warm lived-in feeling and includes a music room where visitors may play the piano. There will be an exhibition from the Killerton dress collection of fashions worn by working women from Queen Victoria to servant girls.
The garden was created in the 1770’s by John Veitch and features magnolias, rhododendrons and a collection of rare trees as well as an ice house and 19th century summer house.
