Join Birmingham Art Fund members for a Lecture by Paul Spencer-Longhurst, senior Curator at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts - one of Birmingham’s finest Art Deco buildings. Paul is an exceptional lecturer and he will speak on Swedish Landscapes from the National Museum, Stockholm to coincide with the 'Northern Lights' exhibition at the Barber.

Lunch (not included in ticket price) will be at reserved tables in the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery Café.

The afternoon will focus on the first full-scale retrospective of the Birmingham-born landscape painter, David Cox (1783-1859) for more than a quarter of a century, at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery exhibition 'Sun, Wind and Rain: The Art of David Cox'.

Prior to its Birmingham showing, this impressive exhibition opened at the Yale Center for British Art in Connecticut, USA where it met with critical and popular acclaim. Birmingham has the largest holding of works by David Cox in the world and the exhibition includes the artist’s most celebrated paintings including Crossing the Sands, The Birmingham Horse Fair and Sun, Wind and Rain from which the exhibition takes its title, together with The Pont des Arts and the Tuileries from the Quai Conti which has never been exhibited before.
