In Italy it was a time of great artistic creativity. The lecture explores works by Michaelangelo and Raphael in Rome, by Titian in Venice and by Palladio in the Veneto. It concludes with a brief look at the celebrated statuary of Giambologna. He was the most famous sculptor in Italy following the death of Michaelangelo and before the advent of Bernini.
