Treasure Plus: Terms and conditions

  • Applications are administered by the Art Fund. Decisions on applications are made by members of a committee convened by the Art Fund and chaired by Professor Chris Gosden. Its decisions are final.
  • Applications will need to include a letter from the Director of the Applicant Institution which endorses the Applicant Institution’s commitment to the Project.
  • The committee may choose to award a smaller grant than requested, towards specific elements of the application only.
  • The Grant must be used only for the Project and for no other purpose whatsoever. Applications will not be considered for projects which are already in progress, or for which funds have already been committed by the Applicant, unless the Applicant can demonstrate that additional funding from the Treasure Plus scheme will significantly enhance or add to the Project. In addition, Applications will not be considered for materials which have already been purchased, or for which a contractual commitment to purchase has been made.
  • Grants can be paid to an agreed schedule, or in a single payment at the close of the project, and will be paid to the museum bank account. The Applicant will be asked to indicate preference when a grant offer is made.
  • Recipients must be able to demonstrate expenditure to the Art Fund through submitting a financial statement, backed up with receipts if requested.
  • Recipients will be expected to submit a short evaluation report (including images) with their final financial statement within one month of completion of the Project that assesses the funded activities with regard to the aims stated in the original application.
  • If the financial statement referred to in clause 6 above shows that the full amount of the Grant has not been spent, the Art Fund reserves the right to withhold all or the appropriate part of the final payment and/or to demand the return of the appropriate part of the Grant monies already paid.
  • The contribution of the Art Fund to the Project including the support of The Headley Trust must be acknowledged in full (ie. not abbreviated to AF or NACF) on any related materials, e.g. labels, merchandise, publicity, together with the Art Fund's logo which is available to download on the Art Fund’s website.
  • The Recipient will display a hypertext link which shall link directly to the home page of the Art Fund website located at http://www.artfund.org (as such URL may be modified from time to time) on the websites relevant to the Project owned or operated by the Recipient, where applicable. Links must only be to the Art Fund home page and must not be used to falsely portray any endorsement or affiliation between the Art Fund and the Recipient.
  • The Art Fund must approve in advance any display panels, print material, press releases or related publicity for the Project. The Art Fund and/or The Headley Trust may publicise the amount and purpose of a grant in whatever way it thinks fit. The Art Fund will publish the cost of all Projects unless the Applicant can satisfy the Art Fund that there is a valid reason why such information should be withheld.
  • You agree to work with us in good faith in order to showcase and promote the Project as appropriate.
  • The Applicant will ensure that:
    • Art Fund literature is prominently displayed in the main foyer of the Applicant Institution;
    • The Applicant will explore with the Art Fund in good faith opportunities for joint promotional and marketing activities in relation to the Project.
  • Neither of us shall be liable or responsible to the other for any failure to perform, or delay in performance of, any of our respective obligations under this Agreement that is caused by events outside our reasonable control (a “Force Majeure Event”). The obligation for performance under this Agreement will be deemed to be suspended for the period that the Force Majeure Event continues and the affected party will have an extension of time for performance for the duration of that period. We will each use our reasonable endeavours to bring the Force Majeure Event to a close or to find a solution by which our respective obligations under this Agreement may be performed despite the Force Majeure Event.
  • If any of the conditions set out in this agreement is breached in a material respect and (if capable of remedy) such breach is not remedied within 60 days, we reserve the right at our sole discretion to require that all or some of the Grant is repaid. We shall exercise this right by specifying in a notice in writing to you the amount of the Grant which is to be repaid. Any sum which is specified in the notice and is not repaid within 60 days of the date of the notice will bear interest charged on a daily basis at the then base rate of our clearing bank.
