Has your organisation undertaken a year of innovative exhibitions and events, or are your engagement programmes transforming the lives of people in your community?
Is your creative use of digital media and technology helping new audiences to connect with your museum, or have you led a project to open up your spaces for more people?
Perhaps your museum has led the charge for equality, diversity and inclusion, or you’re doing things differently and making bold choices with your activity to ensure you’re best serving your audiences?
These are just some of the reasons why musems and galleries apply for Museum of the Year. The judges are keen to hear from all kinds of organisations, no matter the shape or size, location, whether they have a collection or not, or what they choose to display.
We only ask that applicants can clearly demonstrate to the judges how their activity over the past year, 2019/20, has won the support and enthusiasm of their audiences.
So if this sounds like you, we strongly encourage you to apply for Art Fund Museum of the Year – the world’s biggest museum prize, and the UK’s largest arts award.
The best way to begin the process is to have a conversation with prize project manager Emma Mills on firstname.lastname@example.org or 020 7225 4873, who can discuss any initial queries you may have.
Further information about the prize and guidance on how to apply can be found in the application pack – please read this carefully before you apply.
Applications open: 5 December 2019
Application deadline: midday, 13 February 2020
Applications are made online, by logging in to or creating a My Art Fund account. As part of the application process you will need to submit:
