Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, Glacier, presented to the Hepworth Wakefield with Art Fund support, 2018
A key way for museums to develop collections is through donations of artworks, and encouraging this kind of philanthropy has never been more important. We work with both museums and a variety of individual and corporate donors to bring hundreds of works of art into public collections each year.
Through our combined programmes we have a good knowledge of UK collections and museum specialisms which informs our ability to identify suitable potential homes for works of art. We are always seeking to expand our knowledge, so please tell us about any new collecting focus in your museum.
In addition to matching works of art with appropriate collecting institutions, we facilitate the formal agreements and can signpost donors to information on tax-efficient ways of giving art. Our Guide to Giving Art is one of the tools we provide to help explain this process.
