Art Fund Museum of the Year

Art Fund Museum of the Year celebrates museums and galleries across the UK – awarding one outstanding winner £100,000, and giving £10,000 to the other shortlisted candidates. It’s a moment for us to spotlight and celebrate everything you do. It’s not just about new buildings – the prize is awarded to the museum or gallery that has had a truly transformative year, and shown itself to be exceptional in all areas of activity.

Campaigns to save art

We’re well known for our campaigns to save works of art for the nation, and we’re very proud of our successes – from Hans Holbein’s Christina of Denmark, Duchess of Milan, in 1909, to the Staffordshire Hoard and the Armada Portrait of Elizabeth I.

Lobbying for change

Free admission to national museums, the Cultural Gifts Scheme, and maintaining funding to the DCMS and Arts Council England are just a few of the issues we have campaigned for over the last decade. Our independence means we can take a stand and have an opinion. We want to make sure that we hear your voice too.
