The group of rings were probably owned by the same person or a man and wife because there are two rings which carry the same inscription.

On the external face it reads 'mon cuer entier' (my whole heart) and on the interior 'mon est desr' (is my desire). The four rings may have been exchanged as part of a wedding ceremony. The decoration of engraved flowers and leaves is the same on each rings.

Provenance

Discovered near Lewes by a metal detectorist and declared Treasure in 2006.
