This rummer-shaped glass was enamelled and gilded by the Yarmouth decorator of ceramics and glass William Absolon and bears the arms of Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson.

Nelson was born in Norfolk and landed in Yarmouth in 1800 when, according to a contemporary source, Absolon 'presented the hero with two glasses of local manufacture', of which this is one. Nelson was made a Baronet in 1798 and the form of this crest reflects this.
