There are few surviving 18th-century depictions of the chapel, making it a rare and important object. Skillfully worked, it includes a variety of motifs and text including Christian verses and a dedication reading: A south west view of Revd Mr John Wesley's new chapel City Road London, done by Elizabeth Ryalls in the 12th year of her age December 19 1798.
