The South Front of Stowe House, Buckinghamshire
- Art Funded
- 49.2 x 70 cm
- Lowell Libson
The South Front was remodelled in the 1770s. Buckler illustrates the development of the picturesque, the idea that the country house should be seen as part of its setting within its grounds. This is emphasised by giving prominence to the tree in the right foreground, which actually obscures part of the house.
The artist's family; by descent.
