The fitting in the form of a crouching lion has a flat nose, wide nose and sweptback mane, which are all characteristics of the Romanesque period.

This fitting was probably fixed to the gable of a house-shaped reliquary. The hindquarters of the lion are lower than the front suggesting that the figure was mounted on a slope.
