One of a pair of tankards made in Edinburgh.
They have plain cable mouldings; the handles end in small shields and the thumb-pieces are formed as lions resting their forelegs on a ball. This tankard was stolen from the museum in the early 1990s. The other one of the pair is in the collection of the Royal Museum and Museum of Scotland.
