Large bowl made from blown glass, resting on hollow ribbed knop, with a plain foot.
Decorated with white threads in a variety of patterns using the Venetian technique known as 'vetro a fili' or 'vetro a retorti'. The goblet is an extremely rare survival, made for the luxury market, and possibly intended for display to demonstrate the owner's wealth and taste rather than for use.
Provenance
Private collection (French); Dragesco-Cramoisan, Paris.
