- Andy Goldsworthy
Made from locally-quarried chalk, the naturally weathered grey outer surface has been 'etched' by the artist using a flint stone to reveal the white chalk beneath. The large boulder has a rectangular design and the smaller stones a white line that flows across them. One of a number of works made as part of a collaboration between the artist and museum. Intended as a riposte to the marble surrounds of the fireplaces in situ and also inspired by Ben Nicholson 'Still Life - Cerulean' in museum's collection.
