This is to the study for one of Spencer's most important early compositions in which he visualised a Biblical narrative in terms of his own childhood memories.

Christ's miracle is located in the maid's bedroom of the Spencer family's home, with his own siblings serving as the actors.


Given by the artist to James Wood; by 2001 with the Fine Art Society.
