'Egyptian' style chair, related to a design published by Baron Dominique Vivant Denon (1747-1825).

It is known that Denon possessed a version of a small statuette of Napoleon by Antoine Mouton showing the Emperor sitting in a chair of very similar form. This chair is one of a pair, the other one was acquired by the V&A with the same grant.
