In the book 'Singing from the Walls', Judith Cook wrote 'Her skill in conveying movement was put to good use in her depictions of lively children.
.. The pastel of the Pied Piper is a superb example of this: the group of children seem drawn by an irresistible gravitational pull, caught up in one glorious sweep of movement as the piper leads them away from the bright sunlight towards the mysterious darkness of the woods.'
