A collection of 50 embroidered works from the urban and rural Lakai Uzbek textile traditions in Afghanistan.
Includes 29 square panels, 11 shield-shaped panels, 4 bed pile covers, a lattice-work square panel, a marriage canopy, a horse blanket, a horse head cover, a tent band, a bag (botcha).
Provenance
Collection built up in Afghanistan (largely Kabul) and Pakistan (Peshawar) by the vendor from the 1970s onwards.
