The Danish sitter, Juliana Margaretta Waltersdorff (1769-1819), married Cornelius Hendrickson Kortright circa 1790.

This portrait depicts the sitter as a motherly figure in her matron's cap which was a normal indoors costume for a married woman at that time. It is in an oval carved gilt frame of the period.

By descent from the maternal grand mother (Kortright) to Mrs F Ward-Thomas; Lady Collins; Mr Robert Smith Esq.; Mr Lawrence Sullivan Esq.; James Dillon.
