The mantel and over mantel have fret-carved foliate strapwork, roundels and spindles, with renaissance style animal masks and four caryatids. Three of the panels are of lighter oak with fruitwood marquetry inlaid in the arches.

Prior to 1930 at 229 High Street Exeter; French & Sons, New York, 1930; Mrs E J Magnin; donated to Young Museum, San Francisco.
