The view is taken from the south bank of the river Dee, an area which is now a park called Edgar's Field.

Dee Mills, where corn was ground are on the right and through the bridge arches, the weir can be seen, which was built to provide power for the mills.

Purchased for the national headquarters of Martins Bank in Water Street, Liverpool, probably in the 1960s; Barclays Bank when they acquired Martins Bank, 1969.
