25 cms across) and Cornelian intagio set in a gold seal (2.5 cms high) depicting portraits of William Constable. Pichler specialised in carving portrait cameos/intaglios for Grand Tourists in Rome.
Commissioned from Pichler by William Constable (1721-91); by descent to Raleigh Charles Joseph Chicester-Constable; probably sold circa 1950.
