Portrait of the two royal princesses made early in 1637 in preparation for the large group portrait, 'The Five Eldest Children of Charles I', which was hung in the King's breakfast chamber in the Palace of Whitehall and is now in the Royal Collection.
These works were acquired with assistance from the Wolfson Foundation.

Presumed to have been acquired by an ancestor of Lord Chesham's in the 18th century; 5th Baron Chesham; acquired by the British Rail Pensions Fund through Agnew's; on loan to the National Galleries of Scotland 1985-1995.
