Still Life with Flowers by William Scott

William Scott was brought up in Enniskillen in Northern Ireland, but settled for a time in Pont Aven in Brittany where he painted Still Life with Flowers, a fairly rare example of his early work.

Oil on canvas
67 x 50 cm
Art Fund grant:

Although Scott soon moved away from flower subjects, he remained passionately attached throughout his career to the still life genre, painting everyday objects like kitchen utensils, eggs, fish, and fruit in austere arrangements but with a sensuous use of paint and colour.
