Portrait of Sir Thomas Pope, later 3rd Earl of downe.

Combines unusual features like the rucked up carpet, with red and black colour scheme popular with provincial artists of the time. The Art Fund grant for this painting included four other Elizabethan and Jacobean full length paintings purchased from the Loel Guiness collection.
