Sarcophagus of a child, carved in relief with scenes celebrating Bacchus, who appears in the centre of the front panel.

The figure on the lid, a sleeping Paposilenus, is a Neo-Classical addition. Lid of the chest is 35.6 x 11.2 cm.

Provenance

Bought in the eighteenth century for the Castle Howard collection.
