This magnificent centrepiece, with the rest of the original service, was made at the Coalport Factory in Shropshire for the visit of Tsar Nicholas I to England in 1845.

An extremely fine piece, the Coalport centrepiece has a gros bleu ground with gilt border and incorporates six hand-decorated reserves around the central hand-painted depiction of the Order of St Andrew. The reserves show medals of the Orders of St George, Alexander Nevsky, St Vladimir, White Eagle, St Stanislas, and St Anne. The piece exhibits all the finest features of the Coalport Factory's products, high-quality moulding and body, detailed hand painting and gilding.
