Walnut chairs with drop-in seats covered in petit point.

These six handsome chairs are believed to have formed part of the furnishings of Christchurch Mansion when the house was purchased by the Ferroneau family in the 1730s. The house, which dates from 1548, is now the Ipswich branch museum. The Ferroneaus left it in the 1890s but a number of pieces of the furniture have been bought back in recent years.

Provenance

Ferroneau family, Christchurch Mansion, until the 1890s.
