This handsome box in cast and chained gold from the Perchin workshop is enamelled in yellow and white, set with the crowned cipher of Nicholas II.

It is executed in diamonds in a diamond frame, surrounded by four double-healed eagles enamelled in black. The box was almost certainly made for the Tsar for the purposes of presentation.

Provenance

Sir William Seeds.
