Blue eyed, with a fresh complexion, dark brown wavy hair and small side whiskers, he wears a black single-breasted coat, high white shirt collar, and black cravat tied in a loose, negligent bow. Dunthorne was a native of East Bergholt, and a pupil and protege of John Constable.
