Self Portrait of Stubbs painted on a Wedgewood plaque.

Only self portrait save a preliminary drawing now at Yale. Moreover, only major portrait of the artist. Previously unknown, first exhibited 1951 as a portrait of Wedgwood but retitled by Basil Taylor. Signed and dated and inscribed as having been painted for his friend 'Richard Thorold of the Inner Temple London 1781.'
