They were perhaps built as a response to the recently erected Priory gateway of Bishop Salmon's Hall in the Norwich Cathedral Priory lying just over the river from the Carmelite Friary. Stylistically, with the high relief carving of a continuous vinescroll of leaves and grapes, the arches are closely related to the sculpture of the south walk of Norwich Cathedral cloister and the Lady Chapel of Ely Cathedral.
Carmelite Friary, Norwich; re-used in Arminghall Old hall; re-used in Crown Point Hall.
