1) This eighteenth or early nineteenth century Turkish cover is of velvet, embroidered with gilt thread and coloured silks.

The central panel shows a bird attacking an asp, a hornet, a caterpillar and two insects, as well as scrolling stems. There is a broad border of black velvet embroidered with scrolling stems broken by seven panels of purple velvet, two leaf-shaped. 2) This cover, also of eighteenth or early nineteenth century Turkish origin has a square central panel of purple velvet containing a circle of interlacing ornament edged with a repeated inscription, and the corners are filled with floral ornament.
