95 Indian paintings and drawings from the J C French collection deriving from all parts of India but especially the Punjab hill-states.

Among the most attractive are the drawings illustrating themes from the life of Krishna. One of the star pieces is the 'Legend of Gazi scroll' (illustrated) which is a long scroll-painting used by itinerant storytellers in rural Bengal as a visual aid to spoken narrations of the myths and exploits of the painted scenes.
