Unique examples of a type of 16th century hanging; four wall hangings and fragments, with complex monograms, emblems and animals in many small panels, on a background of green velvet with inter-lace pattern in gold.

The illustration shows a close-up detail of the Marian Tapestry by Mary Queen of Scots and Elizabeth Countess of Shrewsbury shown by their royal and personal monograms in the applique.
