Christ on the Cross with the Virgin and St John and a vine forming an ornamental border at the upper edge.

This woodcut was formerly attributed to Albrecht Durer. Kulmbach received the lionÂ’s share of commissions for highly visible works of art in the major churches of Nuremberg when Durer concentrated increasingly on the graphic arts and accepted only select commissions from the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I and a small group of eminent patrons.
