The work of an Athenian craftsman of the 4th century BC.

It was once part of a full-length figure of a woman from a naiskos, a funerary group of two or three figures in attitudes of grief or resignation.


At Marbury Hall, near Northwich, Cheshire until it came into the possession of Professor Bernard Ashmole.
