English 'turkeywork', at one end a red cartouche with an earl's coronet and a monogram incorporating the initials MECILK.

Believed to have been woven to commemorate the marriage in 1618 of John Lyon, 2nd Earl of Kinghorne, to Lady Margaret Erskine, daughter of the Earl of Mar. Sold by order of the trustees of the 16th Earl of Strathmore's 1954 Settlement, Sotheby's 1980.
