The Lazarus collection of 164 drinking glasses, the earliest is a crizzled goblet.

On account of the glass tax, the earlier glasses (pre 1745) show great variety in form whereas the later ones rely more on decoration. Four glasses are attributed to James Giles and 14 to William and Mary Beilby. Some Newcastle glasses have been engraved in Dutch workshops with stipple-engraving. English engraving often takes the form of political slogans.
