The first life-size figure modelled by Gibson in Rome as a pupil of Canova; in the neoclassical tradition.

This example was the second commission in marble, done for Algernon Percy, Lord Prudhoe (later 4th Duke of Northumberland) before 1841. Statue on a rectangular marble pedestal, with an inscription in bronze letters on the front 'REPOSE', 1818-1819.
