This silver racing trophy was presented to the winner of the Doncaster Plate in 1705.

The bowl, made by William Denny, is decorated with broad fluted bands and lion mask drop-ring handles. The piece is crafted in Britannia standard silver, which has a higher silver content than sterling silver. It now becomes the earliest dated example to enter Doncaster Museum’s important collection of racing trophies from the local area.
