Takahiro Yede is one of JapanÂ’s most celebrated metalsmiths and this striking vessel is a dazzling example of his innovative metal-weaving technique.

Yede takes inspiration from traditional bamboo basketry. However, to weave in metal he must first hammer each of his alloy strips into shape by hand. The exquisite results have turned him into an internationally respected artist and Hibiki becomes his second piece to join a public collection in Britain
