He created Continuity for dOCUMENTA 13, an exhibition held in Kassel, Germany in 2012. Taking the form of a looped 40-minute video, it eschews the multiple channels characterising Fasts earlier works, and is instead presented in a more traditionally cinematic format on a single screen. As is typical of Fasts technique, Continuity uses actors to present a surreal, disjointed fictional narrative. It tells the story of a German soldier returning from a tour of duty in Afghanistan. Coming home, he finds that the once-familiar domestic setting now feels alien, as strange anomalies begin to appear reflecting the nightmares he experienced during war.
