The Beaney House of Art & Knowledge was refurbished in 2012 and has a growing collection of contemporary craft.

The work complements the museum's themes of basketry and weaving and has strong links to Canterbury. Additionally the piece fits within the Beaney's wider exploration of 'what is art?' and the nautical theme has a strong local link for the museum. This is an additional bequest following a larger bequest by Margaret Whitford to Falmouth Art Gallery. Bequeathed by Margaret Whitford through The Art Fund.

Provenance

Margaret Whitford.
