These pieces represent the work of JapanÂ’s best-known post-war potter.

Shoji HamadaÂ’s work has not previously been represented in the Oriental MuseumÂ’s collection, and these pieces will form a key ‘bridgeÂ’ between its existing historic collections and new collections of contemporary work. This acquisition was presented by the Art Fund and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation
